Meeting Results Summary

Corp SP: -$150.00 Betfair SP: -$150.00Although it was a day that pretty much went the way of the favourites at Rosehill, this wasn’t the case for the races that we bet into, with some atrocious runs the trend as our runners ended up mid-field rather than showing off their full potential.
As mentioned in last week’s reviews, whenever we’re in these kinds of weather conditions it’s always hard to determine consistency and long-term bang for your buck, with #8 Fituese at $1.75 in R5 a perfect example of exactly how much things can go wrong in the so-so tracks.
—
Starting very late at R6, #6 Miss Einstein showed no real signs of domination, maintaining the 5th position all throughout the race as very strong performances from $41.00 #10 Miss Redoble lead ahead.
The big shut-down came with the late runs from $10.00 #8 St Covet’s Spirit and $10.00 #13 Threeood all pushing out ahead from the mid-pack to lead.
Of course we did pretty well compared to the rest of the race leaders, with mapping on #5 Statuesquely and #14 Sakura taking an absolute dive inside of the 400m after well and truly leading at 1st and 2nd place respectively.
With that being said, we would’ve needed to see a lot more out of #6 Miss Einstein – a bit of a shame considering how well she usually gobbles up this type of race, but we won’t be too harsh considering the conditions she had to overcome.
—
R7 wasn’t much better with #18 Bottega jumping at $3.70/$4.13 but as can be seen from the final results, there was no taking down $20.00 #7 Wu Gok who got over the entire field inside the 400m to finish 3.80L ahead of 2nd position.
Looking through the replay and it’s as if everyone else was stuck in glue, with just 1.80L between us and 2nd despite sitting well and truly inside the wall of runners at 8th position.
Another hard one to decipher as it’s clear that this was not a normal race result with the field all over the place, mapping out the window and essentially no real rhyme or reason to the final performance as #19 Rapido Chapparo took an absolute dive from leading the entire race to finish dead last at a margin of 13.90L.
—
Continuing the negative trend and there were no improvements for us in R8 either, as $19.00 #2 Spencer nearly takes the crown by just 0.50L, #4 Ljungberg takes a dive from 2nd and pack leader #15 Bergen is left in the cold in 7th.
Our own position on #5 Starspangled Rodeo was about as average as it got for the day so we dodged a lot of the pace drama – sitting at 8th all throughout the spring.
Weirdly enough the late price on Betfair left plenty to be desired as BSP came in incredibly short at $6.17 before commission – a whopping margin against the $7.00 SP.
—
Although no return for the effort today, it was definitely the right choice to pare down the outlay given the final state of the runs.
Some very average performances that we’ll mark ever so slightly negatively but ones which we have to be careful not to over-grade given the likelihood of a repeat performance.
