Meeting Results Summary
Platinum Profit:
Betfair SP: +$723.00Basic Premium Profit:
Corp SP: +$310.00 Betfair SP: +$361.50A nice little rort for us today as we pull in 206.67% POT for Basic members and 241% at BSP for Platinum members at a little over +6 units of profit and +7 units of profit respectively.
With the exception of R8 we were spot on, and we managed to get some very decent bonuses to our late price which made the choice of race particularly valuable this time around.
Like Royal Randwick, the track was an absolutely dangerous one to play with today, and we managed to pick the very few that went to map – so extra props to the analysts for the sharp picks.
In particular, the $51 winner in R7 and the absolute destruction of $3.20 favourite #7 Shepard in R1 were the highlights of the lays, and the “rort” from #12 Alfa Oro that we were expecting in R4 at $2.15 became a 0.10L win against $18.00 runner #4 Spirit of Aquada – so you can certainly imagine exactly how many opportunities we had to turn down due to the prediction around this kind of upset.

Starting in R3 it was a dominating win for us as #8 La Chevalee kept its early price largely in-tact at $4.20/$4.34 respectively, with a tiny difference between Platinum and Basic essentially closed once the exchange margin was removed.
It was a particularly well timed pass over the rest of the field too, given the very average 6th position that we saw at both the 800m and 400m mark, with #11 Cirrina and #4 Wild Vixen helping to shut down the rest of the field through traffic and giving us an opportunity to get ahead.
At an official margin of 1.75L it was clear that the final 400m was exceptionally valuable as the weather conditions played havoc with the other runners, with the attempt from #4 Wild Vixen coming to fruition as mentioned in the preview.
Whilst the result in another set of conditions is unlikely to be so large given the huge amount of ground to make up early, we skewed the outlay given the expected mapping off the rain so that was nice and accurate for us to lock in our first win.
—
Another excellent result for us in R5 as #1 Game Keeper jets out to $5.00/$5.89 with a massive price jump in-play to $23.00 on the exchanges before coming back in over the top of the field to get us yet another very well priced win.
Although it’s a big jump over the early $3.40 – the massive delay getting out the gates didn’t help our price as we jumped out past $6.60 on the exchanges at the official time, only to come back in to settle at $5.89 when they finally got the horses out the gate. As this was a winning race for us, that was close to another unit taken out of our pockets thanks to some crappy organisation – not happy Jan!
From the jump it looked quite well, with the middle of the race running pretty averagely as we shot to $23 on the exchanges before jumping back to $4.00 making it an in-play trader’s dream.
Of course the big nail biting experience came when we got to watch it sit at $1.08 for what felt like an eternity before finally collapsing in with the big fat win in our pocket.
$17.00 #16 Blue Ocean was the big rough price that nearly took us down as the neck came out close in that last little bit of stretch to finish an official 0.20L behind us.
#10 Highland Jack is another strong mention and one that we’ll be looking for another opportunity to play with in the future.

R8 left plenty of a sour taste in the mouth as very few runners had much in the way of a run with #4 Reykjavik making backers of the $2.90 favourite #13 Shot of irish tear their hair out in frustration at the 2.75L official margin.
Our own runner #2 So Si Bon wasn’t much better, sitting in the middle of the pack and losing the early position to sit 6th, with price action leaving plenty of be desired at $4.20/$4.40 against the early $4.60.
Whilst our monitoring on #5 Django Freeman was a reasonable result, we didn’t see anything from #8 Double You Tee that excited us – although as per the rest of the races in these conditions we’re not able to draw too many conclusions given the absolute state of the swimming pool.

Over-all it was a great – and well-needed return – for the membership as we claw back the last few week’s of constant places to place us officially into technical profit for May (although of course well below our usual ROI and strike rate).
Our analysts made the correct call to pass over many of the races and hopefully this is another example of how selective betting and careful line walking between outlay and value can help to reduce the risk of stake loss whilst increasing ROI – particularly in days like today.
