A decent return for us over at Eagle Farm as we push a little over 3 units into the bank with a nice big price jump on #5 Red Stina in R4 to push us to $5.50/$5.98 after the early mid $4.00s was pushed out by a dive on #11 So Dapper and #8 Seat of Power saw us take an extra margin in our favour.

Whilst we didn’t see the result we wanted across the other races, it was still enough to get a bit of cash in the pocket and counteract the result at Royal Randwick, allowing the full profit at Flemington to be put in the bank and help bring our May results to profit.

As can be seen against the other races there was plenty of consistency to be found in QLD today, but we continue to support the initial analysis which pointed out plenty of areas where little value was to be had – and with plenty of short margin wins this can be seen to be largely correct.

Our first small bet came in R2 with a nice price around #1 Beat the Beast as we sat at a comfortable $15.00 at SP and a whopping $24.00 for Platinum members, let down only by an abysmal run that saw the 5 year old fail to put in much effort.

As we compensated for the uncertainty in the unit size there wasn’t much of a hit to the wallet this time around, but we certainly would’ve liked to see us sit at the top end of the results.

The only positive here being that the favourites had very little between them and it wouldn’t have taken much for one or the other to overtake so it was the correct decision to avoid piling in on the shorties with just 0.90L between the first 4.

This one was the race that was probably the most underwhelming for us today, so we’ll continue to monitor the runner and hope for a return to normalcy in future races.

Fortunately the bad taste was short lived as #5 Red Stina did exceptionally well for us in R4 with a nice big fat price of $5.50/$5.98 providing plenty of meat for us against the early price.

We sat comfortably with a margin of 1.30L more than enough to keep us dominating as we took down the two head-to-head favourites #8 Seat of Power and #11 So Dapper.

It was a strong run across the entire track with the length sitting perfectly for us – and our expectations around the late market came together nicely to make it an exceptional win for the results.

R7 was another let down with #1 Profit putting in a very average run to finish 6th as big prices on #8 Supergiant and #2 Ballistic Boy managed to go neck and neck for a 0.10L margin between the two of them.

Whilst #5 Kinane was nowhere near the $1.95 the 3 year old was demanding in the late market, it wasn’t much of a consolation prize as we would’ve needed a huge margin in our favour to get anywhere close to the run.

As can be seen across the rest of the field, there’s a huge difference between the runners with last position all the way out to 18.10L which is a huge amount of grass to leave behind at just 1800m so we could’ve done significantly worse.

So whilst the pick wasn’t as off as #1 Beat the Beast, it certainly wasn’t the performance that we were hoping to see to round us out at the $7.00/$8.00 mark.

Fortunately we had plenty of winners across the rest of the track to help take our profit at Eagle Farm into a much meatier territory as we get very close to a +10 unit day, so we’ll happily take it after a very slow month that has seen rubber-banding in plenty of places.
